Tahini Walnut Slice

Tahini plus walnuts – the ultimate match made in heaven. Bake, sit back, relax, and enjoy these slices of ultimate bliss.

Makes about 12 slices

2 flax eggs (2 tablespoons ground flaxseed mixed with 3 tablespoons water)
1/3 cup unhulled tahini
3 tablespoons rice malt syrup or honey
3 tablespoons almond milk or milk of choice
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/4 cups almond meal
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius
2. In a large bowl, prepare the flax egg by mixing the flaxseed with water and letting it rest for 5 to 10 minutes
3. Then add the tahini, rice malt syrup or honey, baking powder, vanilla, milk and stir
4. Fold through the almond meal and walnuts
5. Transfer the mixture to a lined slice tray and bake for about 25 – 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out comes out clean and the slice becomes somewhat firm to touch
