My Kitchen Essentials

I absolutely love being in the kitchen and creating all sorts of foods, and I thought I’d share a few of my kitchen essentials with you. These are just a few of the many items that you’ll always find in my kitchen – ingredients and products that I love, use daily and can’t live without. If you’re curious about how to incorporate any of these things into your cooking, head on over to my recipe section or check out my instagram for ideas!

My Kitchen Essentials

A Plethora of Fruit and Veg
These are first in my list for a reason, they’re some of mother nature’s finest creations! Depending on seasonality, some of my favourites include berries (frozen berries are also a great option), bananas, kiwifruit, papaya, oranges, lemon, avocado, baby spinach, cucumber, zucchini, tomatoes, pumpkin, potatoes, green beans, broccoli, carrot, mushrooms, pak choy, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and more.

Nuts and Seeds
I’ve got a big basket in my fridge full of nuts and seeds. They’re excellent additions and toppers to salads, toast, yoghurt, smoothies, soups, baking, and as snacks on their own. Some of my favourites are pepitas, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds, nigella seeds, almonds, walnuts and Brazil nuts. I also usually have LSA on hand (a ground up mix of linseeds, sunflower seeds and almonds).

Teas
I loooove warm drinks and tea is no exception! It’s hard to go past a classic black or chai tea with some milk, but I also love lots of other types like ginger or peppermint tea.

Cacao
I’m a lifelong chocaholic and always find a way to incorporate cacao into what I eat. It’s almost always in my morning smoothie but I also love cooking with it in anything from biscuits to icepops. One of my favourite recipes at the moment is my choc quinoa pudding.

Bread
Bread is awesome isn’t it? I love having it toasted for breakfast with some avo and whatever else I’m feeling like. My two favourite options at the moment are either Pure Life Bakery bread or this recipe by Jesica Cox. I’d suggest opting for a wholemeal, rye or true sourdough thanks to their nutritional benefits, especially the complex carbohydrates and fibre that they provide. Yum!
