Calming Cookies
These biscuits aren’t just delicious, they’re like a little hug of cosy calm. Each ingredient contains nutrients that gently support your nervous system, thanks to the likes of tryptophan, silica, magnesium and omega 3. Enjoy one with your favourite cup of relaxing herbal tea like chamomile or lavender, or a warm mug of milk.
Makes about 9-10 biscuits
2 large very ripe bananas, mashed
1 cup rolled oats
3 tablespoons cacao *
3 tablespoons nut butter – e.g almond butter, tahini, peanut butter
1 tablespoon add ins – pinch of salt, cacao nibs, chopped nuts or seeds
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius
2. Mix everything together in a bowl
3. Place spoonfuls into a lined baking tray and flatten with your fingers or the back of a spoon
4. Bake for 15-20 minutes
5. Enjoy!
* Although cacao is rich in calming nutrients, it also contains some caffeine and some people find it can be stimulating. If this is the case for you, simply swap the cacao for carob powder (which also contains calming nutrients like tryptophan and magnesium).
